How do transaction fees work on PromoteLocal.ca?

Once an item sells online, there is a  transaction fee applied on the total amount paid. The transaction fee consist of 2.9% + $0.30 for the payment processor, and 0% commission for PromoteLocal.ca, and the remaining gets deposited into your bank account automatically.

In the event a customer likes your listed product and want to visit your physical store and buy it offline at your store, there is no transaction fee to be applied.

What do I need to do to create a shop?

Once you register, it’s easy to set up a shop on PromoteLocal.ca. Create a PromoteLocal.ca  account (if you don’t already have one), set your shop location, choose a shop name, connect your bank account to receive payments from your customers, create your product/services listings, and finally you are set and ready to sell on PromoteLocal.ca.

How do I get paid?

All payments made by customers in PromoteLocal.ca are processed with Stripe. Stripe will automatically deposit your funds into your bank account. We encourage sellers to use a Business account and not a Personal account, as personal accounts do sometimes have restrictions on receiving limits and sometimes cannot accept payments from buyers that are funded by a credit card.

Do I need a credit or debit card to create a shop?

No, a credit or debit card is not required to create a shop. A seller needs to have a bank account. To be verified as a seller you will need to provide document(s) proving you are a canadian business (corporation, partnership, sole propietorship).

What can I sell on PromoteLocal.ca?

PromoteLocal.ca provides a marketplace for all canadian businesses. Some restrictions and exceptions apply to porn, prostitution, firearms, drug, alcohol and gambling industries.
